3 CHI LINS - FENG SHUI

Chi Lin is a mythical Chinese creature with the head of a Dragon, the body of a Horse, and the scales of a Carp fish. Also called the Dragon Horse, or the Chinese Unicorn, Chi Lin brings strong, protective feng shui energy with blessings of good health and prosperity. Chi Lin is very loyal to its owner and will protect the house from evil spirits. Chi Lin has higher royal status than other feng shui guardians. Each part of the other animal lends their power to Chi Lin and they are said to have the ability to walk on land and water. The Chilin is the ultimate representation of symbolic power because they show all these different elements in harmony to create a new being.

They are also called the dragon horse and share with the other symbols of Feng Shui the hope that their presence will enhance the owner’s luck and fortune. One of the common folk tales about the Chi Lin is that whoever dares to look into the Chi Lin’s eyes will be immediately brought happiness and good fortune. Other attributes assigned to their symbol include: confidence, fortitude, ambition, fearlessness, sound well-being and great endurance.

The Chi Lin's presence is said to attract the powerful cosmic breath of the dragon, which promises good omens, prosperity, success, longevity, wisdom, compassion and illustrious offspring. In Feng Shui the Chi Lin has a very important role as a protector of your home or office. It is used to counteract the destructive energy of the Three Killings.  Placing 3 Chi Lin in the direction of the Three Killings will restrain and prevent the killing Chi from harming you. 

3 Chi Lins when wrongly placed

The Three Killings refer to three Violent Robbers; the combination of Age Killing (Sui Sha), Plundering Killing (Jie Sha) and Calamity Killing (Zai Sha), who inhabited the mountainous regions. When Three Killing are wrongly activated or disturbed it can bring about three types of misfortunes:
1- Financial loss/lawsuits, loss of wealth, robbery and theft.
2- Illnesses, blood related injuries
3- Accidents/arguments, calamities, destitution and fatalities.

Placement instructions of 3 Chi Lins

1. Any form of noisy renovations such as banging and nailing, re-decorating, disturbing the earth, digging holes or foundations, or any maintenance work with noisy equipment inside or outside must be avoided in the section affected by the three killings. 
2. One should also not sit with its back to the 3 Chi Lins.
3. It is best to confront them directly. This means if it occupies the North then you must face the North. 
4. You must not have North behind you.  Having the three killings behind you is asking to be stabbed in the back. 
5. So you must always rearrange your furniture each New Year so that you do not inadvertently have the three killings behind you.
6. The best solution is to arrange the living room & dining room furniture such that you never sit facing Grand Duke nor should you have three killings behind you.
