Cleansing Crystals
Crystals need to be protected from physical damage, but also from energetic imbalances. Crystals can register a wide range of vibrations, from electricity and magnetism, to sound, emotions and thoughts.
Every cleansing method has advantages and disadvantages. You will quickly learn to determine the most useful method for your situation. It is better to regularly cleanse the crystals you are working with rather than letting imbalances accumulate over time.
Different methods of Cleansing Crystals
With the exception of few water soluble minerals, each new crystal should be washed before you used it. Use a little soapy water to remove dust and fingerprint. Water will also cleanse your stones of energy imbalances.
1) Cleansing under running water
Another method is to hold the stones in cold running water and then leave them to dry naturally. Visualizing the flow of water drawing away all imbalances as you cleanse can speed up the process.
2) Cleansing with Salt water
Salt water is often suggested as a medium for clearing crystal energies. Although effective, it can be difficult to remove all traces of salt from the tiny crevices in the crystal, and salt will damage the surface of many softer stones. If you want to try this method, place a handful of rock salt in a glass bowl fill with water. Let the salt get completely dissolve before placing your crystals in. Leave the crystal in a bowl for an hour, then rinse the crystal in pure (clean) water before drying.
3) Cleansing with Dry sea salt
Dry sea salt piled around each stone and left for a day is a good alternative. Either use small dishes for each stone or nestle each stone in its own little mound of salt on a large flat plate.
4) Cleansing with sound
Resonant sound from a tuning fork, metal bowl or bell rapidly vibrates the physical structure of the crystal allowing it quickly to shake off any intrusive energies. Simply hold a struck bell or tuning fork close to your stone, or place one or two crystals in the bottom of a singing bowl, and run the wooden handle around the rim.
5) Cleansing in Sunlight & Moonlight
To re-energize your crystals they need to be place in full sunlight in early morning for about 24 hours. Repeat the same on next sunny day. You can also energize crystals in moonlight, putting them out at night and retrieving them in the morning; try to choose a phase such as a new or full moon.
6) Cleansing with incense smoke or smudge stick
The simplest method is to use incense smoke, smudge stick, sandalwood, frankincense, juniper and sage were found to be powerful purifying herbs. Pass the stone through the smoke until you feel it clear.
