Ruyi or Ru Yi is a curved decorative object that is used as a ceremonial sceptre in Chinese Buddhism or a talisman. It can be found made from various valuable materials such as jade, gold, silver, iron, crystal, coral, agate, bamboo, ivory, rhinoceros horn, bone, wood and other precious gems.Ru yi has become a feng shui good luck and good fortune symbol.
The additional meaning of ru yi is that of good luck and protection, as well as helping one find a clear way to the fulfillment of one's path, or destiny. Because of ru yi association with power, authority and fulfillment of one's destiny, a ruyi is best used for good feng shui in the office, not home.

In classical feng shui schools, a ru yi is most often positioned in the North area of one's place of business - which can be a home office of a bigger, corporate office. A ru yi in the office is assumed to protect the owner from negative energy and clear the way for career advancement.

At home the ru yi is most often placed in the Northwest area - the area connected to male energy. It is also the feng shui area connected to networking and helpful people. Sometimes a ru yi will be placed in the West area (Children & Creativity) to create a more authoritative energy in dealing with one's children.
